Overview

Testicular cancer develops when abnormal cells begin to grow uncontrollably in one or both testicles. The testicles are responsible for producing sperm and the hormone testosterone. Although testicular cancer is relatively uncommon compared to other cancers, it is the most common cancer affecting males between the ages of 15 and 40 years.

With timely diagnosis and modern treatment approaches, testicular cancer has one of the highest cure rates among all cancers. Even when the disease has spread beyond the testicle, advanced chemotherapy and multidisciplinary cancer care can achieve excellent outcomes.

At Jus’ Onco, every patient receives a personalized treatment plan based on the cancer type, stage, tumour markers, imaging findings, and overall health.

Types of Testicular Cancer

Seminoma

Seminoma is the most common type of testicular cancer. It generally grows slowly and responds very well to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, making it highly curable.

Non-Seminoma

Non-seminoma tends to grow faster than seminoma and usually affects younger men. Treatment often includes surgery followed by chemotherapy depending on the stage.

Embryonal Carcinoma

A rapidly growing form of non-seminoma that often spreads beyond the testicle but responds well to combination chemotherapy.

Yolk Sac Tumour

Most commonly seen in children but can also occur in adults. It is generally highly responsive to treatment.

Choriocarcinoma

A rare and aggressive type of germ cell tumour that spreads quickly through the bloodstream and requires intensive chemotherapy.

Teratoma

Teratomas contain different tissue types and may require surgery even after chemotherapy because they may not respond completely to medications.

Treatment Options

  • Chemotherapy
Uses anti-cancer drugs to destroy rapidly growing cancer cells and slow disease progression.

  • Targeted Therapy
Targets specific proteins or genetic changes within cancer cells, helping to reduce damage to healthy tissues.

  • Immunotherapy
Enhances the body’s immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively.

  • Bone Marrow or Stem Cell Transplant
Replaces damaged bone marrow with healthy stem cells, helping restore normal blood cell production.

  • Radiation Therapy
May be used to target specific areas affected by lymphoma or prepare patients for transplantation.

  • Supportive Care
Includes blood transfusions, infection management, pain relief, nutritional support, and symptom control to improve quality of life during treatment.
